Stretch Your Stride - Walk With Us Today at 6:30 pm - Metropolitan Branch Trail
Lesson
Walking is low-impact, but your muscles still need care. A few minutes of stretching before and after your walk can keep your body loose, prevent injury, and help you feel better the next day. Think of it as maintenance for your walking machine.
Practice Steps
-
Before the walk: Do 2–3 minutes of light warm-up: arm circles, high knees, or gentle marching in place.
-
After the walk: Stretch calves, hamstrings, and hip flexors to release tightness.
-
Keep it short: 5 minutes total is enough to make a difference.
Why It Matters
Stretching improves flexibility, helps your muscles recover, and keeps you moving longer. It’s one of the simplest ways to protect your body so you can keep showing up week after week.
