The Compound Power of Staying in the Work
In a class I teach, I pose a question:
Would you rather take a penny that doubles every day for 31 days or receive $5 million at the end of that same time period?
It’s a classic compound interest scenario. Most people split down the middle with their answers. But once I show them the chart, the truth clicks: that little penny becomes over $10 million by day 31. Not only does it surpass the $5 million mark—it doesn’t even reach $5 million until day 30. The biggest leap happens at the very end.
That’s a powerful metaphor for the work we do—especially the invisible work. The work that looks like it's not moving. The walks that don’t shed a pound. The early mornings that don’t feel productive. The changes that don’t show up right away.
But here’s the truth:
Progress doesn’t always run parallel to time.
Just because you're halfway through your journey doesn't mean you're halfway to your results. Sometimes, the biggest shift—the one that justifies the struggle—comes in what feels like the final hour. That’s compound interest in motion. That’s the quiet reward of showing up daily.
And that’s the spirit of this walking club.
Every day we show up. Every Saturday we walk together.
Not because every step immediately transforms us—but because we trust that it compounds.
